PROJECT 1, FINAL CUT

8 Feb

For this video project my theme was “consumption”. Instead doing a video on one of the more classic interpretations of consumptions (food, money, etc.) I decided to make a video about the consuming that I, as a student, do on a daily basis. The consuming I am talking about is the consumption of knowledge. In school (especially around finals time) I always feel that there is too much information being thrown at me, more information than my brain can hold. In the first scene I show a bunch of books stacking up with the sound of an airplane taking off. In the next scene I show myself putting books into a trash bag, more books than the bag can hold to represent my brain filling up with info. Sound in this scene is very important. I have a Morse code sound attached to this scene to represent the encoding that ours brains do in order to remember things. I then show clips of various info to show all of the things in the that are in the bag and the sound is to represent how difficult it is to quiet your mind when you have to remember so much. At the end I have the bag breaking to show that breaking point that we all have felt when we just can’t possibly remember one more thing.
